Captain de Crespigny will speak in front of an audience of around 300 students, aviation industry professionals, academics and aviation enthusiasts at the event on June 2.

He will share the experience of making an emergency landing and international headlines in November last year, after an uncontained engine failure caused more than 60 system failures in the high-tech Airbus aircraft.

The Australian Association of Aviation and Aerospace Industries (AAAAI) is holding the event in partnership with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Monash University, giving the audience a chance to hear about Captain de Crespigny’s 40 years of experience as a pilot and “that” famous landing.

Following the presentation, the audience will have the opportunity to take part in a question and answer session, and speak with Captain de Crespigny in person.

When: Thursday, 2 June 2011, from 7pm.

Where: Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Monash University, Clayton Campus, Victoria.

How much: $30 for the general public, $10 for students and free for AAAAI members.

Tickets: Limited tickets are available from AAAAI’s website: www.aaaai.org.au.

AAAAI is an independent, not-for-profit advocacy organisation founded to represent and provide a unified voice across the Australian aviation and aerospace industries.
